Free Elections are Absolutely Essential to Our Evolving American Democracy!Free-Air-Amendment.Org is an internet-based, non-partisan organization dedicated to effecting major reforms in U.S. electorial campaign financing. Its membership is composed of individual Americans from all walks of life who are now donating their time and energy to freeing the American electorial process from rampant bureaucratic and political manipulation, subversion. distortion and corruption by members of both the Republican and Democratic political parties, special interest groups, large multinational corporations, labor unions, foreign governments, religious groups and organizations, lobbyists, political actions committees, as well as any and all other organizations and individuals who would attempt to subvert the Constitution of the United States through illegal campaign contributions, patronage, political corruption, financial chicanery, nepotism, cronyism, economic intimidation and financial influence peddling of any kind.
After years of research, study and discussion, our board of directors has determined that there is but one realistic and practical solution to this most critical of problems: a popular national referendum calling for a new constitutional amendment forbidding all campaign contributions by foreign and domestic corporations, labor unions, trade organizations, special interest groups, political action committees, religious groups and organizations, all lobbyists, as well as any other "non-voting" public or private entity in any local, state or federal election held in the United States or it's territories.
This new amendment, which we have named the "Free Air Amendment," would also require that the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) institute new regulations specifying that all licensees of public broadcast, microwave and wireless frequencies (radio, television, cable and wireless) facilitate at no charge to the public a mandatory set-aside of air-time and bandwidth during any and all local, state and national political campaigns - repeat, at no cost to the people and/or government.
Under these new laws, no paid political advertising could be accepted by any licensee regulated by the FCC. This one action alone will virtually eliminate the constantly escalating costs of running for political office, which for more than 50 years have put hundreds of millions of dollars into the pockets of network and corporate executives, stock speculators, media moguls, as well as local broadcast and cable operators.
These "Advertising Costs" are the primary factor necessitating the huge amounts of money candidates currently "must have" to even consider running for political office - and the lack of which prohibits many potentially viable candidates, independent and usually without any major financial support, from ever having a chance to successfully campaign.
The last pathetic attempts at even modest campaign finance reform by the U.S. Congress, have proven once and for all that our incumbent elected officials cannot be trusted to legislate any meaningful or honest campaign reform. The foxes are guarding the hen house, and they will never voluntarily change the system that has put them into office - and virtually insures the defeat of any "unconnected" (and uncorrupted) political opponent.
America's professional politicians have been bought and sold many times over in order to arrive at their present positions of power. And to maintain those positions and keep that power, they know full well that huge amounts of money will be required before their next election, and you better believe they know exactly where to get it.

The American electorial system, as it presently functions, has totally corrupted our nation's politicians. Nearly all have become addicted to the most insidious drug of all... Money! They cannot survive under the present system without it. Re-election depends upon it, and every new candidate must have access to large quantities if he or she ever aspires to higher office.
Nothing subverts democracy more effectively than money. Help us end the addiction.
