VALENTIN, KARL (Valentin Fey) (1882-1948). Well-known Munich comic who used his camouflaged wit frequently against the Nazi regime. He remained relatively unharrassed due to his close friendship with Heinrich Hoffmann.

VERSCHUER, PROFESSOR OTMAR von One of Europe's foremost geneticists and a pioneer in hereditary biology at the Frankfurt University Institute (KWI) for Hereditary Biology and Racial Purity. He was also Josef Mengele's teacher and mentor. Verschuer's institute agreed to fund Mengele's experiments at Auschwitz, if Mengele would in return send his results and specimens to the institute "for further study."

VÖGLER (VOEGLER), ALBERT (1877-1945). Leading German industrial tycoon and chairman of the board of the United Steel Works. Along with Thyssen was one of the first industry bosses to funnel money to Hitler. Committed suicide on April 13, 1945.
