A Dialectical Chronography of the Maya Civilization

MayaMemex.Com is a not-for-profit cooperative for Maya historical and archaeological research conceived, edited and coded by Richard Perez-Cruet. This ambitious project has been designed to easily import various timelines and other dated historical information from online contributors into a very large Chronographical TimeBase™. Our current archival system allows us to add, import, archive and retrieve text and graphics for more than one million individually dated events for each day in history. When you do a Search of our proprietary TimeBase™ search results are returned in chronological order.

This website is a tribute to Vannevar Bush (1890-1974) whose conception of what he called a Memex inspired many people. Bush's basic idea was that a machine could be constructed that would provide the user with an easily accessible, individually configurable storehouse of knowledge. In his own words - "a device in which an individual could store all of his books, records and communications, and which is mechanized so that it may be consulted with exceeding speed and flexibility." Bush envisioned a free exchange of all information, making knowledge available as a fundamental basis for expanding our collective intelligence and social interaction, as well as international cultural and scientific advancements. Read Bush's essay "As We May Think" (1945).

Archaeologists, Students, Educators, Journalists, Researchers and History Buffs are all encouraged to submit their historical information about the Maya or Mesoamerica, as long as their sources can be fact-checked and verified. No changes can be added directly to the website. All submissions are vetted for accuracy and appropriateness, before our staff will input the data into the Timebase™.

Submissions can be quickly be sent to our staff using our Online Submission Form. Please give it a try.
