Province of Galicia, Spain - La Coruna to Pontevedra

Jose Maria Perez-Vicente was born August 19, 1876 at or near La Coruna, Spain. The back of an old photograph indicates he served in "La Guardia Espana - Provincia Pontevedra" during the Spanish-American War of 1898. He and several brothers later settled in Puerto Rico. I find it interesting that Santiago de Compostela, the legendary pilgrimage site associated with the death and burial of St. James, is almost exactly halfway between the two cities. |
